Starting your new journey
This section will help you start your new life in Christ and get to know your new family. You’ll spend eternity with this family, so it’s important to learn more about Jesus and His Church. It’s also the first step in your New Beginnings process.
To begin, there are six key points to consider that will help you start your journey with the Lord Jesus Christ.
1. Get your personal Bible
Your Bible will be your best companion and the most important book in your new life. It will help you learn about the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). The Bible is God’s Word, showing His will and purpose for us. It serves as a guide for His moral values and standards in building our lives.
The best Bible is the one you are going to read and understand, and in a later course we will look at why we have different translations. For now, we recommend asking your Pastor or Minister to suggest the version commonly used in your Church or one of the versions from this course. You will recognize the specific translation in the verse reference, for example John 3:16 (NKJV) – The text after the verse in brackets refers to the translation. More on this later, but for now the most common ones used are:
2. Join a Home-fellowship Group
As a new believer, it’s essential to join a local church and a home-fellowship group, as they provide support for your new life. In these groups, you’ll meet others who can help you understand true faith and encourage your spiritual growth. Sunday Celebration Services are also crucial; during these services, the Pastor shares God’s Word for the week, and fellowship groups should discuss how to apply it. We refer to the Sunday Services and home groups as a two-winged bird; both are vital for it to fly, and neither should be ignored.
3. Continue learning with the next Course
The first course we recommend is our “Welcome to the Family” course, which has 12 lessons. After finishing all the lessons, you will get a certificate of completion. Please contact us with any questions, and feel free to ask your Pastor or fellow believers as well. We encourage you to question what we teach and seek understanding instead of accepting it blindly. Talk to others until you feel comfortable with and trust our teachings.
We have one request: please do not treat our courses like other courses, even though they are free. Like the Bible, this course should inspire and encourage you to learn more about the Lord. As you engage with the course through reading, listening, or watching, keep these two thoughts in mind.
- What aspects in your reading do you think the Lord is trying to speak to you about?
- Try memorizing the important verses in each section. We’ve included verses as much as we can and made them pretty so you can easily distinguish the verses from the study material.
Psalm 119:11 (NKJV) Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.
Memorizing scripture helps keep God’s Word in your heart. You can recall these verses whenever needed, even without a Bible. Regularly reviewing what you’ve learned is important to avoid forgetting.
Let’s discuss Bible references. For instance, John 3:16 indicates “John” is the book, “3” is the chapter, and “16” is the verse. The table of contents at the front of your Bible lists the page numbers for each book. After locating the book, you can find the chapter and verse by checking the headings before each paragraph. In some sections we will ask you to read the verses for yourself, please do not just skip over as we want the Word to sink into your life.
Read each section carefully, reflect on the truths, and relate them honestly to your life.
4. Pray and listen to God
Listening to God is important for your new life. In our course mentioned above, you will discover how to pray and how to hear from God. Start today by spending time with God every day and writing your thoughts in a journal during your quiet time. Often, God communicates through your daily Bible reading, your thoughts, and your experiences.
5. Identify Your Support
As you start your new life, you will need guidance for your spiritual growth. Often, a Pastor can connect you with a group member or a home fellowship group where you can meet a supportive friend.
We also have a Timeline feature which encourages social learning. In your timeline, you can reach out to other students that have done or are doing the respective course with you, and you can engage in meaningful conversation within our social pages.
Alternatively, we would love to support you by meeting weekly on Teams or chat on WhatsApp to discuss what you’ve learned each week. We can also pray together if possible, as prayer should be important in your life. Do not feel isolated, reach out and start a conversation. We would love to hear from you.
6. Begin witnessing for Christ
When we hear good news, we want to share it with others to spread the excitement. Revelation 12:11 tells us that we overcome the devil through the blood of our Lord Jesus and our testimony. The good news of Jesus is something we should share so others can experience God’s gift of salvation. Since everyone is affected by sin, everyone should have the chance to hear the gospel and find freedom. You might be the only one who can tell them about it, helping them avoid eternity in hell by witnessing for Christ.
Revelation 12:11 (NLT) And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.
When you finished your first course, move on to the next one about dealing with spiritual strongholds. Our courses connect with each other, and the first four are for beginners who are new to Christianity. The third course focuses on evangelism, while the last one is about leadership.
Our prayer for you
Our prayer for you is that God shows you His plan and purpose for your life. We are all called to serve in His Kingdom. Some are called to full-time ministry, while others work part-time, but everyone is called to help in His field. The goal of our New Beginnings track is to prepare every believer to be a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.
After finishing the Leadership course in the New Beginnings track, you’ll be ready to start a small home group study. We hope this new journey brings you joy as you find your purpose in the body of Christ. May God bless you with meaningful relationships as you meet your new family.
