Sometimes when we’re carrying something new, a dream, a calling, a word from God, we need to be around those who believe with us. Find your “Elizabeths”, people who recognize God’s hand on your life and call it out with love and joy.

Luke 1:39–45 (The Message)
“Mary didn’t waste a minute. She got up and traveled to a town in Judah in the hill country, straight to Zachariah’s house, and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby in her womb leaped. She was filled with the Holy Spirit, and sang out exuberantly, ‘You’re so blessed among women, and the babe in your womb, also blessed!’”

When God begins something new in your life, it often stirs both excitement and uncertainty. You may wonder, “Is this really happening? Can I believe this promise?” Mary must have felt that way after the angel told her she would carry the Son of God. What did she do? She didn’t isolate herself in fear, she ran to someone who believed.

Mary hurried to see her cousin Elizabeth, who was also living a miracle of her own. Two women, both touched by the hand of God, came together, and heaven met them in that moment. Their meeting wasn’t just a family visit; it was an explosion of divine joy, confirmation, and Spirit-filled encouragement.

This story reminds us that when God is at work, He often confirms His promises through community, through faith, and through the joy that comes from His presence.

God’s Promises Are Best Strengthened in the Company of Believers

When Mary entered Elizabeth’s home, she wasn’t just looking for company, she was seeking confirmation. God often sends people into our lives who can recognize and affirm His work in us. Elizabeth didn’t need Mary to explain anything; the Holy Spirit revealed it to her.

Proverbs 27:17 (NIV) says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Mary’s faith ignited Elizabeth’s joy, and Elizabeth’s encouragement strengthened Mary’s faith. That’s how God designed His people to live, not in isolation, but in shared belief.

Sometimes when we’re carrying something new, a dream, a calling, a word from God, we need to be around those who believe with us. Find your “Elizabeths”, people who recognize God’s hand on your life and call it out with love and joy.

God’s Presence Always Brings Joy

The moment Mary greeted Elizabeth, “the baby in her womb leaped for joy.” Even before Jesus spoke a word, His presence was enough to stir life and joy in others. That’s who He is, the source of true joy.

Psalm 16:11 (NIV) reminds us, “In your presence there is fullness of joy.” Joy isn’t dependent on circumstances; it flows from knowing Jesus is near. Mary and Elizabeth didn’t have all the answers, but they had God’s presence — and that was enough to make joy leap within them.

In seasons of waiting or uncertainty, joy is not found in understanding how everything will unfold, it’s found in trusting that God is with you right now. When you invite Him into your life, joy becomes your companion, even before the promise is fulfilled.

God Blesses Those Who Believe Him

Elizabeth’s Spirit-filled declaration still rings true today: “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her.” Mary wasn’t blessed because she was powerful or perfect, she was blessed because she believed.

Hebrews 11:6 (NIV) says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God.” Faith is what turns a promise into a testimony. It bridges the gap between hearing God’s Word and seeing it come to pass.

When you choose to believe, even before you see, you open the door for God’s blessing to overflow in your life. Like Mary, you may not understand how it will all happen, but you can still trust the One who gave the promise. Believing is where blessing begins.

Let Your Faith Leap with Joy

In closing, Mary and Elizabeth’s story is more than a sweet reunion, it’s a reminder that when Jesus is present, joy abounds, faith deepens, and promises come alive. The same Spirit that filled Elizabeth now lives in you, empowering you to believe, rejoice, and encourage others in their journey.

Maybe you’re in a season of waiting for God to fulfill what He’s spoken. Or maybe you’ve just begun to see His promise take shape. Either way, surround yourself with people of faith, stay close to His presence, and hold fast to His Word.

Take a moment today to thank God for the promises He’s spoken over your life. Reach out to an “Elizabeth”, someone who encourages your faith, or be that voice of blessing to another believer. Let God’s joy rise within you, and trust that what He has promised, He will surely perform.

Because every time we believe, heaven rejoices, and joy leaps within us again.
