Ephesians 2:4–6 (NIV)
“But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”
Position Before Performance
When we gave our lives to Christ, something supernatural happened. We were not only forgiven, but relocated spiritually.
We are no longer striving for victory—we are living from victory.
Paul doesn’t say we will be seated; he says we are already seated with Christ.
This is a position of authority, rest, and intimacy.
Key Truth:
You don’t fight for your position; you live from your position in Christ.
What It Means to be Seated
Seated Means Rest
In the Old Testament, the priests never sat down in the temple—because their work was never finished. But Jesus, after making one final sacrifice for sin, sat down at the right hand of the Father (Hebrews 10:12).
Being seated means the work is finished. We rest in what Christ has already accomplished.
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
Seated Means Authority
The right hand of the Father is the place of power (Ephesians 1:20–21).
When you are seated with Christ, you share in His authority over sin, death, fear, and the powers of darkness.
“Behold, I have given you authority… over all the power of the enemy.” — Luke 10:19
Seated Means Relationship
You are not a distant servant but a beloved son or daughter invited to sit with the King.
Being seated with Christ speaks of closeness—you are not merely near His throne, you are with Him on it.
Living from your Seated Position
Speak from Your Seat
Stop praying as if you are beneath your circumstances. Speak as one who is above them in Christ.
“Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things.” — Colossians 3:2
When you face sickness, conflict, or fear—remember you are not looking up for victory, but down from victory.
Stand in Authority, Not Anxiety
We often live defeated because we forget our position.
You are seated far above principalities and powers (Ephesians 1:21).
That means every spiritual battle is already under your feet.
Serve from Security, Not Striving
When you know who you are and where you’re seated, you no longer need to earn approval.
You serve not to be accepted but because you are already accepted.
The Power of your Position
Being seated with Christ transforms your identity and purpose:
- You are accepted – not rejected.
- You are empowered – not powerless.
- You are victorious – not a victim.
- You are secure – not striving for validation.
When the enemy tries to pull you down, remember your seat is not on earth—it’s in heavenly places.
Remain Seated
The enemy’s strategy is to make you stand up and fight battles that Christ already won.
But God’s invitation is to stay seated—to rest, trust, and reign with Him.
“Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.” — Psalm 110:1
When you know where you’re seated, you’ll stop wrestling for position and start walking in peace and power.
Closing Prayer:
Father, thank You that through Jesus Christ, I am seated in heavenly places.
Teach me to live from this place of rest, authority, and intimacy.
Help me to speak with confidence, serve with grace, and walk in victory every day.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
